It’s Shawnna, stepping through with the highlights of this week. We are almost done with Managment, “YAY”, and we are cruising through ServSafe and Nutrition together as a team.
In Management, we learned that procedures should be defined and implemented by a team of managers and employees. Fun fact for management from this week is that one of the preventable emergencies in an establishment is a foodborne illness! We have learned how to prevent a foodborne illness in ServSafe!
Handwashing is so important!!
We learned in Nutrition that fiber is a complex carbohydrate that cannot be digested by the human body but it does go through the digestive tract. Also fun fact, fruit juice is considered a carbohydrate. Weird? I know, right. Shout out to our tutor coming through to help us with Nutrition, teaching us new things!
We are also taking steps to get our brain going on math. I’d say all of us are stuck on how to do division and multiplication BUT with Jackie here, I’m sure all of us will relearn and get through it!
All of us did really well on our tests this week. Everyone is somehow improving themselves! I’ve seen someone go from low-low test scores to doing sooooo much better! Shout out to Jitzary for working hard and improving with these chapters!
Well, until next time. Thanks for tuning in!
Congratulations Cindy on finishing the program! She had a couple set backs but came back and worked really hard and passed her ServSafe! Even though she learned baking is harder work than she is looking for, she stuck through! Proud of you!!
I would also like to give a shout out: Thank you so much for the Lindenmeyer crew that came and helped paint the classroom and put up shelves in December! It looks so great in here- the yellow really brightens up the room and gives it a little life, and the shelf will only help in the seemingly forever endeavor of organizing and working in this small space. Thank you so much from all of us at Just Bakery!
